You might notice that Sky News NZ carries Sky News AU for a reasonable amount of the day. Letting the presenters know in AU when NZ are taking their stream and so on is prob not the highest priority for them

As above it is SKY NEWS AUSTRALIA so why do you expext them to provide for NZ, what we need is a 24hr news channel here.

I checked CNN, as I have friends in the US. It had late breaking images for the June 13 quake. All were Feb 22 images. Poor

Actually, normally the 'Australia' tag gets replaced with "New Zealand", as far as I'm aware, the same raw feed is used for both Australia & New Zealand (Foxtel's EPG certainly shows NZ Prime News at 3:30 Sydney time (i.e. 5:30 here, - as I recall it's a simulcast)).  I'm guessing the split it into two feeds to apply the Australia/New Zealand tags, and to apply Australian/New Zealand ads if/when they have an ad break.

It's likely the person that at the time was 'producing' (the presenters will just say what they are told to say, there would be a live production crew that are overseeing everything and telling them to say 'look at multiview') the feed, forgot/didn't realise that Sky NZ doesn't re-transmit any of the red-button services.  They only Red Button service that Sky NZ transmits is the occasional 'interactive ad' (book a test-drive for the car in the ad, sorta of thing).

As I recall, similar things have happened before with Pike River & the Queensland Floods, (We will be shifting to another press conference, to see the rest of this one, look at Multiview   OR   Look at our live helicopter footage of the flooding via multiview).  I'd imagine the challenge for any news channel is to keep the most important/wanted stuff on the main feed, they may have felt that there was nothing 'new' to report regarding ChCh and decided that covering the normal news in the meantime was a good idea.

The only way it'll ever be resolved, is by pestering Sky NZ next time you call in, to get the multiview for Sky News.

I know what you mean, kind of annoyed me there was cheap tacky 'NZ' tag on the Sky News logo and to spin it as NZ news channel was a scam.

But it all comes down to scalability, cost of service and most of all content.

If you think what was front page new of Stuff.co.nz today and what made evening TV news channels (See US comedian and jibe at NZ politics), we don?t have much content to offer up and keep a dedicated NZ news channel going 24 hours.

And that extra couple of $?s on my monthly bill for a channel rarely watched wouldn?t go down well when, (as stated before) the internet is 24/7 and free. :)

I think how they managed the OZ / NZ feeds is ok and accept occasional mistakes will happen, just like on Discovery and adverts for lower interest finance I can get, if I am an OZ resident...
