Can this be done, have two tivos connected to the one tv and only have one remote talk to one and another remote  talk to the other? e.g. no interference from the other remote.

I am not sure, but you can select 1 or 2 on the remote, so that could be what that is for. I see there is now an official tivo person here so they may know.

You can use the one remote.  You have to flip the 1/2 switch and you have to set the tivos up so that they know which one is 1 and which 1 is 2.  Try this link for instructions.  http://www.wkforums.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-17.html

Yes, and even better, you can use the one remote to control both Tivos, using that little switch.

Yes we have two TiVos, one TV. Switch works fine (as long as a toddler doesn't fill it with food/saliva). It is the equivalent of having two seperate remotes. You have to program both switch positions separately to different IDs. By default they are both set to 0 which will control any TiVo.

You can also use the Home Networking Package to enable the feature where content recorded on one TiVo shows up in the 'now playing' list on the the other TiVo. Only one of our TiVos is a TiVoHD so I have actually used that feature myself.

Hi all, I have 2 tivos and finally set the second one up.  They are both connected to one tv.  I have followed the link wallop put up and followed instructions.  The one unit has remote access as 1 and the second one as 2.  I have them both connected to the network via ethernet cable.  The second one has not registered as being activated and can take up to 24 hours the site says.

Now when I select the switch to 1 position it still operates both units and likewise when the switch is in the 2nd position both units operate.  Does the 2nd unit have to be completed with activation before the settings take effect

Have you had a look and made sure that each Tivo is set to a different remote id?  Re-run the programming and make sure that when you are pressing the remote only 1 tivo is receiving the signal.

yeah I made an error.  Cant have covered the one up correctly and it set on 2 as well. so all good.

The 2nd unit hasnt activated yet and also doesnt show up hard drive recording hours etc. Maybe those will show up later.  But I can watch with either unit now so getting there with having 2 units on one tv
