I have a small gym setup in the garage and want to install a 22 to 24 inch monitor on a wall bracket to run some dvd's or music dvd's through. I have a number of DVD vob files also lying around on an old PC's harddrive that I might want to create a music playlist from as well..
So, some help with the following questions would be good.
What is the best setup below ( or indeed something else ) before I outlay some cash.
a) HD ready ?? LCD with dedicated DVD player - will need to figure out how to pull vobs together onto DVD-R. Sound run through a spare amp to speakers
b) Laptop with DVD drive and Vobs on HDD and connected to normal PC monitor. Sound run through the spare amp to speakers.
The HD ( or not) LCD's are a fair bit more pricey than the PC monitors. Would I notice much difference plugging in the DVD to the PC monitor as long as the inputs accepted? The laptop is somewhat older now - Dell Latitude D610 so would need to check it could handle DVD playback etc. Think it also only has an analog output.
Setup a) would require me to stick to the original or authored dvd's for playback.
Setup b) would allow me to create playlists etc depending upon my mood or desired artist etc.
Any other setups (within a tightish budget) that they could recommend.
Cheers again for your thoughts.
