I have a Sony Bravia KDL40EX710 that will not play sound through HDMI connected Panasonic Home Theatre.

When i first purchased it it worked fine however ever since i adjusted cords around at the back of the tv it seems to have been affected.

I can play BluRay movies on the home theatre and get surround sound on the system and video on the Sony TV. So i doubt it is HDMI cable.

I have tried two HDMI cables as well.

I am sure there is a simple fix on the tv in the settings however i cannot find it any ideas thanks

You have to connect audio out on the TV back to the AV-in on the home theatre, this is usually 2x RCA cables, or optical if your HT has an optical input.

So, you should have two sets of cables between HT and TV, HDMI cable for playing BR/DVD on the TV and audio cable to get TV audio back to the HT, and when watching TV, you switch the HT to AV-1 or similar

Firstly, read the i-manual thoroughly. It contains all the information you need.
If you are trying to get digital audio out via HDMI then your Home theatre system must be ARC capable and must be connected to HDMI-1 on the TV which is the only ARC port.
If not then you must use an optical cable to connect to the TV's optical out.
Then go to the Home menu and adjust your settings in the Sound menu to suit.
This is similar to my 32ex720 and I found a lot of settings interacted with each other  and took me a while to sort out how to get surround sound working properly. I also found surround out is a lot softer/quieter than PCM out which must be peculiar to Sony as my Panasonic BluRay recorder seems to output the same sound level on PCM or Dolby Surround.

I found my preferred settings by trial and error.
Good luck.
