With the new law coming into force at the end of the week

What are some good Online digital music stores that work in NZ

I know that Itunes is probably the most complete. But does it still have restrictions on what devices it can go on.

I dont have an Ipod or Iphone so if it does have restrictions i cant listen on my HTC phone.

I've used iTunes to buy music for my Android phone. No DRM. Not sure if that applies across the board but I haven't run into it yet. Native format is not MP3 but you can convert it to MP3 within the iTunes client.

I bought music via iTunes and then used an app called Double Twist on my Droid phone to give me access to all that music... worked seemlessly. Now back on the Apple so don't need it but it worked really well.

It's not really a serious online music store. Selection is very limited.

When I last tried it, it was very poor quality. I think they are only encoded at 128, and there was no information prior to buying the music that they were going to be such poor quality, so I felt quite ripped off. When I first tried purchasing music from the vodafone music store several years ago, they were encoded at 256. Is there a reason why the quality was more recently downgraded (within the last year or two), especially as the tracks are the same or more than itunes, which are far better quality and DRM free.

I would like a music store with the range of Itunes, the price of Amazon and the file format choices of Bandcamp, hell sometimes I'd settle for Itunes that doesn't require installing software.

I think they are planing a browse based version of itunes, but it probably will make you store all your music on the icloud, so it isn't on your computer. That is the way it is heading.

Depends on what you're after.

I use a combination of iTunes, Digirama and Vodafone's music store.

Bandit.fm isn't bad, has a decent selection and works in NZ.
