Hard to say, I'm down the hill below you so the signal is not great and I'm always on wifi so not sure how it "normally" is.

In a decent reception area of my house I just got 1Mbit down, 88kbit up, but flatmate got 1mbit both ways 60 seconds later. I tried again and got 1Mbit down, 700kbit up. We both have galaxy s2's but I have a different radio. I will have to test in town tomorrow as I recall getting several Mbit in the past as well.

(Sidenote: I notice they started digging up the strand to put in UFB fibre.)

Ventura: It'll be nice to have LTE but that means an expensive phone upgrade. Most phones are HSPA+ already why don't they move to that now with the network they have now?? Like Vodafone and 2Degrees???

I believe that Telecom's network is HSPA+ nationwide.

Same when I'm at home; I did the tests at work. I finally let my phone install the app updates that it's been pestering me about for a while. When it took almost 15 minutes to update three apps I decided to start investigating :)

Yup! There's an official announcement but you probably already know most of it. Somebody's been doing some digging here in Waiewe St too and Orcon's address checker said that fibre is being laid, but now it's reverted back to "coming eventually" so I don't know whether it was Chorus or somebody else doing the digging. I live in hope.

S3 getting 10.50Mbps DL and 0.85Mbps UL in Queen St Auckland.

That's on Vodafones Speedtest.net server. Is there a Telecom hosted speed test?

I'll have to do some testing in a week or two when I've got more data spare on my plan.

Though I only have a 7.2mbit device.
