I have a brother in NZ in a VDSL area and resides less than a one kilometer from the cabinet. I have checked the Telecom Wholesale site which indicates he is within the "zone" and shows it is available in his area.
So the next question is when are the plans from Xtra expected to roll out. He is currently on a Business plan and would like to take the next step up to VDSL but it all seems a bit far away yet. Even ringing Telecom asking about VDSL results in we can't give you a date as yet?
Which brings me to the next question, obviously new equipment is required to take full advantage of the new offering so is home wiring going to be included in the install? I would be thinking not but would like to know in case there is a need to organise our own wiring. Also recommended data cable would be Cat 6? Just in case we get some installers that want to install something lesser like Cat 5.
Just on that Data techs in the West Auckland area. Would anyone have any recommendations please. The current residence has one line into the house but separate line for business office. I have recommended a splitter be installed and dedicated line for the VDSL connection.
Any help or advise greatly appreciated.
