Topic # 8073 1-Jun-2006 16:59 Send private message

Yesterday I performed a small test. Using my cell phone (which is currently on the Anytime 100 plan), I phoned my son's Telecom mobile while he was at school (his phone was at home and switched on). I let the phone ring a couple of times and then hung up. Today I logged in to Telecom and what do I see? One minute charged against my 100 free minutes. The call wasn't even answered! And no, I hadn't left it long enough for Cell Sec to answer. I checked a couple of other calls I know I made and hung up before the call conected and the same thing, 1 minute charged. Now I understand there's a minumum 1 minute charge on calls made, but if the call isn't actually answered this seems a little 'unfair'.

Don't even get me started on the text message the billing system says I sent to my son at 12pm yesterday when I haven't sent him a message in 4 days (yes it charged me for the text at the time).

You should only be charged if the call connects

That was my understanding also. The call didn't connect. I know this for a fact. Tomorrow I'll go through the calls in more detail as I know there were other instances where calls didn't connect.

I was on a mytime plan and found that same problem when calling with free minutes. But if i called during the day and hung up before it was answered then i didnt get charged. They need to get that sorted out, i already called and complained about it

Cheers bradstewart. At least I know it's not just me. I'll phone them and see what their excuse is.

I have been in email contact with someone at Telecom regarding this problem for the last couple of days. No resolution as yet but I'll keep you posted.
