Topic # 109543 21-Sep-2012 18:50 Send private message

The VF website says they’ll be available and that they come with the iPhone 5, but will they be available to customers who don’t buy their phone from VF?

If so when and how do I get one?

Thanks

Andy

Hi Andy

We'll have nano sims available from the 28th. Just go to your local Vodafone store and they'll be able to swap you to a nano sim just like you might currently swap from a mini (normal) sim to a micro sim.

Cheers

Dylan

Thanks Dylan,

Do you know if we can get them mailed out, or is in store the only way?

Yes - With an iPhone, so why not without an iPhone?

Are ‘blank' sims different to ones pre-loaded with a number?  Whenever I have got a ‘blank’ sim it’s had a number attached which then change when I ported my old number over.  Clearly I am missing something.

Thanks for your help

A

I found these that might be of use.

VF nanoSIM and MicroSIM page:  http://www.vodafone.co.nz/micro-nano-sim/

What is a MicroSIM?   = http://help.vodafone.co.nz/app/answers/detail/a_id/11167/

If you have purchased your iPhone directly from Apple, Vodafone, or from overseas you can visit one of
our Vodafone stores to obtain a MicroSIM.
Existing On Account customers can request a new MicroSIM free of charge.

..I wonder if they will do the same with nanoSims.

Hi there

Nope - no charge to switch an existing Vodafone NZ connection from a normal or micro sim to a nano sim. Just pop into a store and they'll swap it for you.

Cheers

I got charged to switch from a normal to a mirco about 6 weeks ago at VF Riccarton mall in CH. $30. I even questioned him because I'd heard in the past that it was free if on post pay... Still charged me, after reading this I feel ripped off!

Dylan are you sure it's free?

It's free if you purchase a iPhone5 from Vodafone not if you just want the nano SIM and you purchased the handset from another retailer (correct me if I am work)

Looks like nano SIMs are free for a short time frame not micro SIMs don't get the 2 mixed up
