$80 for 1GB and unlimited calls to landline? I am certain a lot of people would take that. Then complain when going over 1 GB - which is not much. Make it $100 for 5GB and unlimited calls to landline and I would think it's worth it. Voicemail is $5 a month? Wow... As for a unified solution with a local number tied to a SIM I guess you will just have to watch this space. As for Vodafone's new ideas for data charging I've been talking for years about "prepaid" data addons for PrePay or On Account customers and can't understand why neither Vodafone or Telecom seem interested in offering such a product. Why shouldn't I be able to go and say buy 1GB of data for say $59 or 2GB for $99 that is valid for say 6 months allowing me to use it at any time? Every time I post this there are always people lining up saying they would love to have such a feature yet both telco's don't seem interested in actually giving their customers what they want! *Need help configuring your Linksys ATA or IP Phones for New Zealand? I think the bundles are good, only if you have 3G coverage... cokemaster: If you use up that too, you will be charge 50c per MB after that Thats some good england! I've noticed quite a lot of poor spelling around the Vodafone ihug services pages too... Find me on Twitter! I posted 1, 2 x 10^3 times!

Then once they are stung with big data charges and saying you've used it so pay up, then they'll never use it again .. Just out of curiosity, does anyone know what the percentage is of prepay users compared to account customers on mobile networks ? ( personal customers I'm talking about here, not Biz customers ) Steve..

I think the issue is more that there are handsets out there with features people cant use without it, google maps, flicr, blogging etc You used to be able to do that with no credit on the card so it wasnt a huge deal, if you did it too much they would do something to break it till you topped up, if you didnt abuse it then it seemed to last for weeks. I know hardly anyone on a personal plan, other then those that have an old work number they want to keep and cant because of vodafones lack of interest in swapping people between plans and prepay. As soon as its happening then my sister is taking her cool 6 digit 021 number to prepay. I am in the minority in wanting to go on a plan, but then its not really personal use I want it for so perhaps its not too far off the norm. ideally I would like the flexi plan but not on a crap cdma handset ;) - but these data deals and staying on prepay with vodafone may be tollerable. Hi Mikal, not quite right I'm afraid. At Home was the name of the product that, as you describe, is a GSM box with a SIM card offering free local AND free national calls for $39.95 a month. Following the merger with ihug we've renamed it Home Phone Plus to better fit in with the full range of services offered to the home - fixed line and "mobile" network based services. With this in mind, it's easy to see why so many bundles (best mates, TXT2000 etc) were launched to prepay before On Account.

Interesting how you can get 5 gig of Mobile Broadband for only $39.00 a month across the ditch in OZ.. Same company and they probly pay the same for a data pipe as Vfone NZ does ? http://www.vodafone.com.au/Personal/PricingPlans/VodafoneMobileBroadband/HowMuchDoesItCost/5GBMobileBroadband/index.htm But you can't do data on prepay in OZ. I found that out last Xmas during the big outage when I put my sons prepay card in my phone to try to do email etc and it was no go. I rang a Vfone CSR in Oz and they confirmed it, data was only on account in Oz. Vodafone live worked on prepay, but who wants to use that anyway ..

Yeah, It just shows what having competition can do. The 3 network in Oz is another one: http://www.three.com.au/threestore/mobilebroadband.xhtml 1 Gig for only $15 a month. But Vfone Oz's offer is a lot better at 5 Gig for $39 a month. Steve..
