Have searched the forums but can't find an answer on whether prepay Oz phones are SIM locked. I'm off to Brisbane next week and was going to buy a Nexus S as they're only $269 Ozzie which is a bargain but can't find a definite yes/no answer if they're locked.

Appreciate any insights anyone might have

Yes they are. Details of charges listed here: http://vodafone.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2909

Looks like you would be in for a $25 fee for unlocking online, plus a $50 fee for unlocking in the first 6 months.

I don't think the Nexus S handsets are from further research

Can confirm they're unlocked so can be had for just under $400 which I'm happy with. Great phone and always going to be supported unlike my Ideos X5. Updated to gingerbread 2.3.6 as soon as powered on
