Ever since I've upgraded from XP, I've noticed that my HP DV6000 (6129TX) is running hot. I'm now experiencing thermal shut down and the whole PC shuts down. Damn frusttrating when your doing stuff.
I did not used win7 on my laptop but it used to shut itself down a weeks ago (80+ C). What I did is:
- open it, vacum clean, blow everything from fan to heatsink (did not help)
- took out heatsink, replaced termal paste and wuhuhuhuhu (temp is down to normal 30-50 C :))
maybe you should do the same...

You should have left XP and installed the beta of Win7 on a separate partition.
Win7 should install its boot manager that allows you to make a choice of OS at startup.
You are going to have to remove that beta, because it will cease working after a set date and you will have to buy and install the final product if you want it.
i've noticed on my installation that the SM Bus Controller driver didn't install which ".. monitors your system board's temperature and voltage. Programs that read your hardware sensors need the controller.."
I'm on a PC not laptop and cooling is good so im not that worried - but will be a different issue for a laptop..
