Does anyobody know whom actually did the work on the original website? it was always a rather nice site.

I'm still checking Companies.govt.nz daily hoping to see something hinted there. (c1 shoppingmall)

andysh: Hi there,

As I said before my friend has been ripped off by these guys. He is writing to Fair Go and will be going to the police tomorrow. Does anyone have any more advice to what we should do to improve his chances of either getting his money or any parts for the computer he ordered?

Andysh

You haven't said how he paid,  if he was *fortunate* (sic) enough to pay by credit card,  then he should IMMEDIATELY contact the card company and dispute the charge.

Sadly I'm not aware of anything he can do if he paid by cash, direct deposit etc other than going to the police & Fair Frading.

He paid by direct deposit through internet banking from his National Bank Account

Not sure about the original site,  but the *last* version seems to have created by DreamWeb (USA) or if not by them,  who ever created the *last* version seems to have  "appropriated, borrowed or.." huge chunks of code from DreamWeb.

There is a warning now on the pricespy website.  Which refers to this site about C1coms reputation, so hopefully more people discover this site.

I've lodged a few more complaints with Fair Go too, all you guys even new users should do the same.
Thanks for the phone numbers to the person above ;)

Also my chargeback is due within the month, so a bit of time to wait, but at least I'm not left in teh dark

I've disputed charges months afterwards and the card company has reversed it.

For anyone wanting to dispute a credit card charge I would not wait until Monday,  most of the card companies are open at weekends so I would call them 9.00am Saturday

What my friend wrote to Fair Go:

I purchased a $1500 PC online from C1 Shopping Mall Company Ltd, they confirmed payment indicating 5-7 days delivery time. After 4 weeks of ringing up being insured that my purchase would arrive soon. I visited them today 3rd April and discovered that the shop has been vacated and appeared abandoned. I visited the shop adjacent and was informed that the shop owners left the premises permanently yesterday. During the course of 15mins, 5 other people showed up to confront the computer company about paid goods which haven't been received and followed up with no success. They made orders going back 7 weeks and C1 Shopping mall Ltd website was still taking orders, when they obviously weren't in a situation to fulfil them. Online research uncovered that alot more people are in the same situation, and the company directors have vanished. It is likely that there are more people in NZ which have paid upfront, not realising that the company doesn’t exist. They have removed the website today.

As said before everyone that has been affected by C1 Shopping mall please write into Fair Go. The more responses the better. Write in even if you have paid by credit card please.

Kind Regards

Andysh

If they have in fact jumped country to Korea as suggested, I doubt there's much Fair Go can do about it, it's now a legal matter for the law/banks to sort out. I'm down roughly $400, lodged a credit card dispute about a fortnight ago, will chase them up soon.

And keep an eye on your credit cards, as they're the only suspect outfit I've used this (fairly new) credit card with, and a lot of quite large charges (beyond my limit) have tried to be charged to my card early last week before the bank/visa promptly put a hold on it, and the attached names were distinctly asian sounding, so I have my suspicions...

IF the directors or persons associated with the company have committed a fraudulent act, then they can be prosecuted under the NZ Crimes Act.  I'm not a lawyer,  but I believe the penalty for such acts can carry up to 7 years custodial sentence,  which would then qualify any proceedings against them as an extraditable offence.  So provided NZ has an extradition treaty with the relevant country,  the offenders could be extradited to stand trial in NZ.

I don't think your friend wants to say he was "being insured". Gives entirely the wrong idea. He means he was "being assured".

Hey Guys,

This guy here is believed to have been the main boss for C1com, after ringing each person from all the numbers given above regards c1com, they have all said Damian is the man to ring. I have rung him and he has told me hes gone into liquidation and the only thing I can do is call my bank and ask for money back.

His details again:

The only thing we can do..

No, I think legal action is an option also if people paid by direct credit and are unable to get their money back.
These guys obviously knew they were going into liquidation before we did and they have been careless in letting people still place orders etc.

I don't want to sound like I'm trying to be nasty here but legal action against these guys (who are now  supposedly in liquidation) is not really an option for any of you who have lost money. The company has gone bust and you're all unsecured creditors. You'll probably be looking at $2k - $3k minimum to get a lawyer to lodge any proceedings against them and for most of you this would be significantly more than you are owed and it's certainly no guarantee that you will ever get anything back.

Assuming they are in liquidation ou need to find who the liquidator is and contact them. Lodge your claims with them as they are now responsible for the assets of the company. Assets will be frozen and if you do have goods owned by you (such as a busted hardware awaiting an RMA) you should stand a good chance of getting these goods back if they have these in their possession.
