BurningBeard: What grinds my gears... women who wear so much cosmetic junk that I can TASTE them when they walk past. Ick. Ladies, if I can still smell you ten minutes after you left the room, you have problems.

+1 In our work building, I hate walking into an empty lift that smells like someone spilt their perfume in there, travelling a few stories up or down and walking out and still smelling it for another 20 meters after walking out!

Cmon ladies, ease up on the products! :D

muppet: People who have signatures about 2 times bigger than their replies!

There's nothing more annoying than a single line reply then huge SpeedTest graphics in their signature. Why not make it a small text link, in the 1% chance the person reading that particular topic/thread cared about that posters speedtest results!

It doesn't apply to just this forum, though I'd love it if GZ introduced a "don't show signatures" option.

Also: Fox Terriers. Just shut up already.

When a tap is set way too close to the side of the hand basin/sink making it near impossible to wash your hands properly.

I mean COME ON!!

Here's a nice dirty image to show what I mean. Smile

Taxi drivers that drive by paper maps (I struck this a few times heading into Auckland from the airport). Hopefully they'll all have Navmans soon if they don't already.

Indicators - Don't bother flicking it as you're making your move, what's the point of that? Just install a sign that flips the finger and use that instead, same effect.

I don't mind slower drivers so much, they're a fact of life I guess, but I really don't like the unpredictable ones who can't keep a steady speed even on a straight stretch of road. Except, of course, when they come to a passing lane.

A personal one, maybe I'm alone with this: People who can't be arsed to drive the other way around the block to join the traffic at a controlled intersection, instead trying to cross a busy street from some little sidestreet/driveway. Sometimes you see these mad dashes that would made the "spinning wheel of death" man pop his eyes out and I wonder if that was really necessary.

I'll add another one, FIXEDWIDTH websites. Just as high resolution widescreen displays start becoming the norm, all these stupid sites go fixed width to 800px or 1024px and look like receipts stuck in the centre of anything but a netbook display.

+1 for "People who have signatures about 2 times bigger than their replies!"
I'd even remove my avatar if it were not replaced by that silly blue man "?" graphic as this would make short posts even more streamlined

+1 for the excessively speed-inconsistent drivers in every part of the road except those passing lanes, I'm happy to sit at a constant 80-90Kph on the open road or 45-50Kph in built up areas and slow down where it's appropriate but yes, there are many cases when the driver guns it the minute there is a passing lane, luckily I now have a car capable of quickly jumping ahead of them and away from danger as they slam their foot to the rusting metal whilst weaving about. (the MR2 finally went to the ferro recyclers after many faithful years)

Another pet peeve are the mothers in those giant pavement crawlers whom go right up my back bumper and honk when I slow down because of children playing near the road or a school as a cautionary measure.

+1 to all small shivery dogs. Small dogs are cool when they are not a hybrid of a vibrator, hyena and rat.

People who are turning and first put the foot on the brakes THEN indicate. I mean, where is the bloody warning the indicators are suppost to be?

People who indicate to enter a roundabout - even though their only intention is to go straight - which mean they should really only indicate when leaving the roundabout, otherwise people will think they are going to the other exit.

People who drive on the right lane at 80km/h when the left lane is empty.

+1 to all of those, no wonder I offer to drive so much when people are going places. Sometimes its scary.

Time to really look into a dash-cam and make some youtube fodder.

macuser: i think if there was one thing that drives me more insane than anything else in history is when people don't remove the plastic film (AND STICKERS!) that are stuck to new electronics.

I removed the spec sticker from my laptop just over one month ago, and the nice big bit of clear plastic on the back of the screen is still there.

I bought the laptop in February.

Same story with the plastic on my monitor. The plastic on the back is still on there.

I bought that last November.

So why, exactly, does that annoy people?

It annoys me more the tiny scratches that get onto electronics within seconds of removing the plastic.
It literally took less than a minute from when I removed the plastic from my cellphone's screen for a scratch to end up on it.

YES!  When I was on tour once I needed to get from the airport to a mates' place I was staying at. The taxi driver gave ME the map and asked me to find it.

It was a new block of apartments and wasn't on the damn map!  Useless.

Umm correct me if I am wrong.. but I believe there was a law change with regards to indicating when entering a round about?

I agree though.. indicators are for left and right turns.. so why would you indicate going straight...?
If you are going 'straight' through a roundabout:

don't signal as you come up to the roundabout
signal left as you pass the exit before the one you wish to take. At some small roundabouts it may not be possible to give three seconds warning, but it is courteous to give as much indication as you can.
It shows you haven't updated yourself with the latest changes in indicator usage at roundabouts, right?

Check rscole's post and link before my reply. You have to indicate when exiting, even if it's straight through. This was changed recently.

You obviously don't have to indicate RIGHT if you are going straigth but you have to indicate LEFT to let others know you are going to exit, even if it's going straight through.

Clear now?
