If you've been following the news lately you'll have noticed a religious sect in the US thinks May 21 is the end of the world as we know it with the goodies being raptured to heaven and the baddies (including me) having to stick it out till October 21 when the whole world will end.

Seems many have sold up and spent all their money in anticipation of the big event that starts with an earthquake in NZ which goes round the whole world!

There's more here on the Family Radio website. And I thought the world was going to end on 31 Dec 2012 - just goes to show how wrong you can be ;-)

Looks like there will be a lot of disappointed and perhaps even suicidal people next Sunday when it all comes to nothing.

Awesome, Saturdays my last day at work, this will get me out of the usual "last day pranks" and hassling that generally goes on during people's last day!

Better prepare a full backup at home and from our Geekzone servers, just in case we need to restore it in the next universe, a billion years from now then...

Surely my tinfoil hat will protect me from all evil?

My tin foil hat is also at the ready!! Just dont forget to be spinning anti-clockwise when you place the hat on, I hear that if we click our heels and say "theres no place like home" also helps

Ill be seeing all you good buggers on saturday then? or does time difference matter?

What's the bet they will schedule everything for California time instead of Jerusalem time? Laughing

I know of a rapture part in auckland where people are going to be partying hard in preparation for that night ;-)

[really... just any old excuse for a booze up?]

Do we have an exact time? I would hate to be on the toilet that would be awkward.

The family radio guy uses a calculation which starts with the crucifixion on April 1st, and a formula which involves adding (conveniently) whole days to reach the end of the world. The family radio guy doesn't mention a time. But:

Wikipedia: "According to Mark's Gospel, he endured the torment of crucifixion for some six hours from the third hour, at approximately 9 am, until his death at the ninth hour, corresponding to about 3 pm"

It's a safe bet this is Jerusalem time rather than California daylight saving time, but I'm betting they haven't figured that one out.

For those who are wandering exactly when it is, it's 6 p.m. local time. You can read all about it here. Wouldn't want you to miss the big event or be caught out on the loo!

Imagine being a believer with a watch that's running fast...

*Believer looks at watch... "6:03pm"
*Believer = "FUUUUUUUUUUUUUuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu, lying bunch of %^$holes!!!"
*real time 5:59 >>>>
*click* 6pm, RAPTURE HAPPENS!!!!

Then they go to hell or october or whatever for being a sinner and swearing and s*&t!

Morons

EDIT: ROFL at "Rev Camping"...

Does this mean when I start my new job on the 30th, I'll be driving through a wasteland?

I always wanted to be Mad Max.

Be a cool trick to pull all your mates house fuses at 6pm too!

I don't no if it will happen or not but if it does happen will there isn't much I can do about it. So why worry about it why worry about things that we can't control.

I also don't believe that man will know when the world will end it will happen with out warning.
That's my belief

I'm pretty sure it says somewhere in the Bible that we don't know when the day is coming. But they said sat. is the day because its 7000 years after Noahs boat thingy. 7000 starts with 7 as in the whole 7th day thing. Its fascinating how people spin that stuff. Lol. Like English teachers really. Spinning minor details in books into a completely different plot line, ie. blue car on a nice day.

Author = blue car is cool, doesnt show dirt and its summer
Teacher = blue car represents the characters deep depression which links with him driving the car to the pet shop where be buys a kitten and its sunny outside showing that there is light at the end of the tunnel and hope for everyone blah blah blah.

Just my little rant
