Does Anyone have any information about Telecom's DSL 2+ Rollout Plan?

I know that there is 1 exchange in AKL, WTN & CHCH currently in the final stages of rolling this out.  But does anyone know which exchanges are next, and when???

Hold your horses :D Im sure if someone here knows they will let you know.

Unless Telecom have made a media release, then chances are no one will know, and if someone does then they may be bound by a NDA so they will be unable to tell us anyway.

www.telecomwholesale.co.nz/adsl2plus will give you an indication, however is usually a bit slow to be updated.  At least you can get a schedule from there as to what will be happening approximately when.

It is now fixed in my original post (not in your quote, you have to edit that).  I messed up the hyperlink by first typing it as "adsl2+" and then editing it to "adsl2plus" but updated only the displayed text and not the link itself.  Sorry, need more coffee...

It looks like the above link has been updated with the August plans. I wanted Albany to be in there *sigh*...

Gutted, they are doing the Flagstaff and Frankton exchanges in Hamilton...just not Te Rapa yet! :(

I would have thought Te Rapa to be top of the list. Apparently not!

Wow (from the above site):
"In Pakuranga we observed the following performance results:
− 23% synchronized to the ADSL1 standard and the speed was limited by old ADSL1 modems.
− 33% synchronised to the ADSL2+ standard but the speed was limited to ADSL1 by modem issues.
− 37% synchronised to the ADSL2+ standard, but speed is limited by line length, line quality, or premises wiring issues.
− 7% synchronised to ADSL2+, and were achieving better than ADSL1 like speed. "

"In a survey of 1,323 broadband lines in St Albans, it was found that downstream line speed increased by an average of 800Kbps during the conversion from ADSL1 to ADSL2+ multi profiles."

Did you have any doubts before?

Shame Auckland blocked TelstraClear deploying cable in the city, hurting (forever) their chances of a decent broadband option.

Wow that is alot more info than was up there the other day!  As it says in the other docs, they are upgrading the exchanges that have the lowest number of customers on them first in case they have problems.  The page that has the 5 columns of exchanges on it I assume might be roughly the next 5 months rollout plan Sep-Oct-Nov-Dec & Jan 08.  I'm on Mayoral Drive and I'm in the second column.  I assume that means I'll get 2+ in October, sigh.  Although there looks like there has been alot of slippage already.

As for Telstra Clear cable.  Didn't they want to string up poles all around Auckland?  Well we've got rid of most of our power and telephone poles around the city, might be alright in Wellington, but not here.

Over the last week I have been having a lot of disconnections, and the modem would not reconnect, have to power off/on.....then after reading this post and a few others, and finding the telecom wholesale rollout document, I could see that my exchange (Mt Pleasant) was on the list to be done in august, and that other people had experienced unstable connections during the upgrade period.

I went an brought a new ADSL2+ capable modem and its connecting at ADSL2+ (so it says) and now all stable......mabe some issue with ADSL1 only modems and the new exchanges ? I'm not getting any better speeds, ~4000 down / 800 up but it seems to be a bit snappier, maybe they are connected to a new back-haul ?

Its the user connection type upgrade only. No backhaul/speed yet that were all aware of. Still ADSL1 speeds, but using ADSL2+ protocols to connect. Which it seems are a little more stable to some and able to sync slightly higher.
