Hi Guys and Girls,

We are looking to release a nice little app that will allow you to control a few of your VFX services without logging in to the Web portal, its called VFX Manager and you lucky folks at Geekzone get to look at it first, this is the first cut (beta) so we are looking for some feedback on it please.

It has support for call forwards and some call control options, also the Big one I'm sure a lot of you will like it has a tab for Call Logs, Placed, Received and Missed call logs are all visable from this Tab.

Remember please this is the first cut and more features will be added later.

This app interacts directly with your VFX account and any changes here will be reflected in your VFX account and vise versa.

This is the Logon Screen, enter your VFX logon details here

This is the call Forward Screen, get easy access to the the basic call forwards.

The Next Screen is Call Control and you get access a few of the options here, including adding , editing and deleting criteria for your Call Notify.

Finally the last Tab is call logs, won't show this as I have all my Call logs on it Laughing. you will just have to download it and see for your self.

At this stage we have a Windows Version Located Here

windows .exe version:
http://www.xnet.co.nz/downloads/vfx/VFXManagerSetup.exe

A Ubuntu Linux Version Located here

linux .deb version:
http://www.xnet.co.nz/downloads/vfx/vfxmanager_0.1-1_i386.deb

An Apple one will follow hopefully in a day or two.... (but that's just like Apple always following the Windows apps Tongue out )

Hope you all enjoy this and we think you will be pretty happy with the app, as i said there will be more coming especially for the advanced feature sets and VoiceMail, so happy to receive feedback on this for improvements, issues and requests, please remember for requests this is just a lightweight app that is easy and functional and is not designed to replace the portal.

Nice one Phil Smile

It's great to see such a handy little app. for managing the most commonly used VFX features without needing to wade through the portal.

To my mind, the obvious thing missing at this stage would be Voice Mail management functions, especially including the Voice Mail to e-mail function that so many VFX users (myself included) find so handy.  As you have said, that is coming, so I just thought I would mention the above function as being something vital to have included in there.

The more arcane features of the portal are not so frequently used, so I don't see a problem with needing to login there to change those other functions.  The portal is a bit daunting to newcomers though, so it's great to see this new app. as a way to ease people in to the intricacies of VFX, without requiring them to leap into the deep end as it were Tongue out

Well done, and keep up the good work Smile

Nice, the only thing missing is a phone book to initialise calls!

At work we use IPFX Live Desktop which has all those fatures in it, greating having it on a desktop application.  The other thing that is nice about IPFX is that you see your voice mails on you PC, and can play it over you PC speakers.  Perhaps add to your next version, Maverick?

Great! this is exactly the sort of app I had in mind when I mentioned to you (quite a while ago) that an API for VFX would be really useful! Will have a play and let you know how it works out.

First thought is it would be great if you could add in support for multiple VFX lines. Also voicemail would be neat if it could be implemented in a 'Visual Voicemail' style.

When trying to add a notify for all calls I get:

Traceback (most recent call last):

File "vfxmanager.py", line 187, in OnAddClick

File "vfxmanager.py", line 345, in LoadData

File "vfxmanager.py", line 221, in LoadData

File "wx\_controls.pyc", line 1709, in SetValue

TypeError: String or Unicode type required

Vista Ultimate 32bit if that helps . . .

EDIT: I fixed it by adding an email address, then pressing save, then adding the criteria (I think that's what fixed it). That'll be a trip for multiple beginners if not rectified?

maverick: ...this is the first cut (beta) so we are looking for some feedback on it please.

One little thing that could be improved:

- Having clicked the SAVE icon, the program (presumably) saved my login details so I didn't have to enter them again next time (a nice touch Smile )

- However, it took quite some time (several seconds) to do this, and if I hadn't been able to see the LEDs on my router, I would have wondered what was happening.

- It would be nice to display a message to the effect that data transfer was happening, ideally with a progress bar

- When you enter the program again (having previously saved details), all the fields come up transparent so your desktop is visible through each of them.  It takes several seconds until the program "comes alive" so once again, some kind of message and progress bar would be nice Smile

Cheers,

Grant.

Please add my vote for multi account.

I manage two VFX lines so would be really nice to have them in one app.

Otherwise great work.

How about the ability to log in and create a phone book of numbers that regularly call you so there will be names in the list rather than just a bunch of numbers?

Would this be optional or configurable?  I would not want to view the kid's phone setting on my PC and the kids view my phone settings on their PC.

Can Call Notify be futher customised? ie to only notify on missed calls? I don't need an email to tell me I just received a call but when I'm away from home it'd be nice to get an email telling me who is trying to call me.

This is just a subset of what you can see and do already, the one extra feature that you get is the Call Logs, we now have the ability to display this to you via the VFX Manager, otherwise this would only be available with the CommPilot Call Manger in the advanced feature set.

I won't be committing to anything here just yet , we are looking to see what your feedback is and then we will look at what is do able and what is not,

It's great, and good you are so receptive to feedback :-)

To slightly touch the multiple logins to multiple portals issue we face, and get away from you having to redo all your portals into one big single login portal, how about an app like this that deals with all the different systems? We could preload all the logins into the app and then simply switch across tabs across the top of the app to see the must commonly used stats / functions of each system?

:-)

Nice to see that you've put out a Ubuntu version, particularly so since it uses non obfuscitcated Python, rather than some sort of stripped binary built for fedora 5 *cough*oracle*cough*.  I think I'll be using your service pretty much on this basis alone.
