Hi Guys,

I'm networking up a house I'm building, and have 38 ports to connect (went overboard and laid 600m cat6 in a 4bedroom house :))

I'm looking at these 4 ones, anyone know which one would be easiest to use or perhaps a better option?

also should I be concerned and only buy ones that say "cat6" or doesnt it make any different between cat5e and cat6 just for these plugs?  (like i said the wire is cat6)

cheers

Hi, I would buy none of these, they all claim to be both Cat5e and Cat6, which is it, were they certified to Class D (100MHz) or Class E (250MHz).

I think you would be better going with locally supplied product that has sold here with a reputation. If you want commercial quality then select TE or Molex, if you want good value for money and some assurance it wont fall apart then Dynamix is fine.

There are two cat6 white models down this page, probably the FP-C6-002 90deg jack is of most use to you unless you need side entry cable (180deg).

Hi, but you only need 38 so $212 which is a bit less. Personally if you dont know what quality you are getting then I would avoid, but its up to you.

In the end of the day all the keystones come from the same bunch of Asian suppliers, however at least with the likes of Dynamix or Signet you get a product supply that the local supplier has been peddling for a few years and can sell with confidence.

We have sold the Dynamix Cat6 jacks for last couple years and I personally used 40 of these in my house and have never had an issue with these.

/shameless plug

We sell these at $4.00ex GST if you're are after some.

We can do them as cheap as China but can at least guarantee the quality of what you're getting.

For 38 you'd be looking at 152ex GST ($174.80inc) plus about $5 freight if you're in the North Island.

If you're interested flick me a PM,

// Shameless Plug (Have to at least try looking like i'm doing some work while on here :P )

P.S I wouldn't trust the quality of the Chinese jacks having personally brought cheap Chinese RJ45 plugs from Dealextreme and could never get decent / reliable speeds on any cables until I ran out and brought some locally and discovered that it was the plugs causing all my issues.

thanks boby55 might take you up on that, 3x the price is fine, esp if its 3x the quality.

i was comparing how much I could get for $50 (50 to 100 units) to price on cablesdirect, not how much I needed.

im also after one of these
Dynamix 48 Port Cat6 UTP Patch Panel and a dynamix "RAFS-600" shelf (just waiting for confirmation from dynamix that is the correct shelf for my cabinet) if you sell more dynamix stuff?

For cheapness go dynamix. Nothing wrong with their gear. Around 50 for a 24 port panel. Their cabinets are quite nice too.

Edit: 48 port panels suck to work on and look crap when you are finished. Just get some nice 24's

I got a dynamix cabinet pretty cheap off tradme, 600x450x900 for $190.

the 24 patch panels I can only find unloaded ones for less than $50, loaded are $70+.     you got a link for them at a better price?

but thanks for the tip about 48 being a PITA to work with, don't mind grabbing two 24 if they're easier (rather pay $20 more and have easier job doing it)

Yep we sell them aswell for the 48 Port Panel $128 + GST (24 Port Panel for $71 and $79 with labels. I would personally go for two of these over one of the 48 panels )

and $23.50+gst for RAFS-600.

What model cabinet do you have, I can have a look for you if you want.

Sorry, yea i am thinking wholesale pricing. For $70 per panel you will be happy as. Molex panels are $200+ lol..

Can i suggest getting rear cable management too? They are frames that hold up the cables at the rear so over time they don't sag and pull the wire out. Looks a whole bunch tidier too...

That is my loom when it is swung out. Makes it really easy to work on individual cables. Then you can just swing it back and velcro it back up.

boby55 can you PM or email me (john at reven dot co dot nz) your best price for the following

- 2x 24 cat6 dynamix patch panel with labels (they will screw into my cabinet correct?)
- 40x cat6 keystone (or PDL, no clue what difference is) plugs, couple of spares just in case
- 2x shelfs for my cabinet, assuming you can figure out which ones I need.

cheers

The specs say the Shelf measures 350mm deep ** Designed for S shaped vertical rails but is listed as Fixed Shelf for 600mm Deep Cabinet

So I have emailed our supplier to get the actual dimensions for you :)

Cheap terminals on those cheap keystones will actually pull off with the tool, leaving just the metal spikes sticking up if they are the same as the ebay ones a friend got. Dont fit either blade for the punchdown tool properly either.

You could always not terminate them all at the moment if you dont need them, would save a bit.
