Just looked at iTunes movies, seem expensive to me. How do those prices compare to the US iTunes store? I seem to remember looking at a mates iTunes account a while ago and it was a US account, and the prices seemed a heck of a lot cheaper?

Right or not?

Other thing - the US iTunes store has heaps of Documentaries etc that aren't available on the NZ store, oh for those!

Eh, I think that $13 is reasonable for movies. I'd rather pay that then have to sit through another 3 hour conversion for an 11 minute video

wow what software are you using? I'm able to rip and convert a 2hr video to high quality avi in about 90mins... and can convert a whole season of something from divx avi to iphone compatible mp4 in like 2 hours (i'm talking 350mb 1hr shows too - the whole series...converted and exported to itunes in 2 hours - 12 episodes....)

sounds like something isn't right at your side i'm afraid!

on topic though - i bought groundhog day just to test the waters and the download speed was soooo slow, 3 hours nearly! still, it's legal and its mine so its a good trade off. i'm much more interested in tv shows on itunes so hopefully that comes around soon, and i'd be happier to buy HD movies on itunes if i didn't need an appletv to do so....but no more movie purchases for me, it's not worth it in my opinion.

I paid $4.99 for a rental, and this is a good price comparing with the video store - thanks for the convenience.

As for speed, check what provider you are using. I am on TelstraClear cable-modem service and got my movie downloaded in 20 minutes.

TelstraClear 10Mbps 80Gb plan here...was on the first day of iTunes movies though so the servers may have been hammered.

I am d/l a movie currently-Wyatt Earp- yes an old Western !!
Going to take me about 3 hrs. Its 2 Gb which will be over my d/l cap for day !! ( Ihug) so Ive stopped for today and continue tomorrow to complete.

Not surprisingly when my desktop was away I tried a d/l on the laptop on ther wifi network-far to slow !!

I converted my movie into a mpg, which was done in about 6 minutes. However, the iTunes conversion wasn't so short. Maybe I just shouldn't trust iTunes to do any of my conversion.

I reckon! are you on Mac or PC? Give VisualHub a go for Mac, or just use Quicktime Pro for PC/Mac. VisualHub is super fast though in my experience.

I'm on PC. But there's no way in hell that i'm installing Quicktime. It's just a gateway for malware, and it slows the computer to a crawl. Apple programmers are awful at writing things for pc. Or they just intentionally make them run sucky.

I use quicktime alternative for playing apple video formats. I think my video converter can convert video into apples format, i'll have a look next time I can.

Im pretty sure itunes and quicktime are mutually exclusive, you cant have itunes without qt can you?

Oh, right. I forgot that iTunes requires QT. That's probably why my computer is functioning at about 30%. Why does apple suck so much with windows programming? Why can't they hire proper dedicated windows programmers? Can anyone answer that?

no idea, but i've got no problems with qt pro or itunes on my core duo notebook (3gb ram). something sounds dodgy from your end mate.

Can someone clarify what I can play the downloaded bought/rented movies on with regards to the DRM. Can I play take the downloaded file and play it on another PC that doesn't have myiTunes account?
