Got the Ipad2 and just loving it. The only issue i seem to have is every time I download an app it ends up using double the data. I only noticed this recently when I downloaed XE elements and it used up around 3 gb data and wiped out my internet for a couple of days when the app itself is only 1.6gb in size. I'll detail out the problem below.

Open up Itunes App store from my desktop PC. Buy the relevant app and it starts downloading in ITunes ( on my desktop).

Check Ipad screen and its now ALSO displaying the App icon with a little loading bar beneath it. If i press the icon the loading bar changes to paused as well. The Ipad is not plugged into PC at this point.

App downloads to PC in minutes but its still downloading using my home wifi to IPAD directly as well, basically using double the data as far as I can tell i.e I'm downloading it twice.

I basically need to pause the one on the ipad, delete it , resync etc etc etc

How can I set it up so that it I only download the app onto my desktop then manually sync it across when  I connect up the IPAD to the desktop?  I posted this on a US forum and they don't think I can which appears bizzarre that I have to use twice the data for any apps I buy.

Cheers for any help

Ged

Hi,
Go into 'Settings' and store, In auto downloads switch it to off.

Since Apple's store cloud update last week this is a new option which when you purchase in itunes it also downloads from the cloud to your other devices at the same time.
Swithing it to off stops this and means you then either download it on your ipad or in itunes and they will transfer when you sync them.
