xbmc announced over the weekend they have ported xbmc to run on android.

http://xbmc.org/theuni/2012/07/13/xbmc-for-android/

so far there isnt a lot of supported hardware decoders, so will be using software for most devices.  however they are planning on supporting more, and they have an official sponsor who makes android devices who is supported now.

just when we all thought raspberrypi's were the coolest thing to run xbmc....

the mk802 might be better....

no idea if android supports the pulse-eight motorola remote/keyboard (awesome remote, hope it does).

At last something interesting on Android. Because all those cheap $50 Chinese crap that are touted as "entertainment center" were not.

whats awesome is, with android and xbmc, you will be able to watch netflix with it via the native app, and then use xbmc for everything else

and if OUYA is actually made, running xbmc on that, would be a true all in one solution.

xbmc pvr = tivo/media player
netflix = sky movies
ouya for games = xbox/ps3

I’ve still got six weeks to wait for my raspberry Pi and you're already taking OUYA.

OUYA does look good, do you think the raspberry Pi will run xbmc pvr or am I getting my hopes up? Don’t want to buy a set top box for the spare tv.

I believe at the moment there is only hardware decoded supported on the AMLogic AM8726 SOC, its particularly common in the cheaper Android tablets.

Supposedly support for OpenMAX is a goal, which will enable hardware decoding for a much wider selection of devices/SOC's.

Wouldn't be surprised to see support for the Allwinner A10 sooner rather than later.
