Well, I can't *officially* recommend you do that, since that's not the correct process for registering with self-care. But of course, I couldn't *stop* you from doing so, either, if you decided to try.

Officially, I understand you're supposed to buy a normal 2D SIM, activate and register for 'your 2degrees' using a normal phone, and then request a microSIM swap by calling 2D customer care who will courier one out [as has already been discussed earlier in this thread].

really?  so instead of just popping into dse and buying a microsim (which took about 10 mins), i would have to buy a full sim, call them up wait a day or so before i could start using it just because i need a password?

there has to be a better way.  everything is stored in their db, someone must be able to set the password for me over the phone.  its not technically impossible, its technically very easy.

Hi just talked to 2Degrees themselves, the above by [bold]iamspak[/bold] is the easiest way at present. Another way mentioned was to get a blank large sim from Warehouse Stationary and have the Data transfered to blank Sim, activate the account, then have it transfered back.
Long Winded and harder

They are also not looking at the Sim Adapters yet, but may do in the future.

Personally when there is an App that can use the messenging service on the ipad the better.

If you have an old SIM hanging around send it to me and I'll use my SIM cutter on it. It makes a perfect cut out from the old SIM and you can use it as a microSIM holder.

I'm still hoping for a 2degrees iPad/iPhone app for viewing account status and purchasing add-ons. That way all you'd need to do is pop in a new SIM into iPad/iPhone then use the app to purchase data packs, view account, get push notifications when you're running out of data and receive msgs from 2degrees. I think this would be a great app and would put them ahead of the competition :-)

i may do that then, u can get a $20 for $10 at warehouse stationary ATM, really quite annoying though.

i really thought all i would have to do is call up tech support and they would give me a password, especially for something so simple.

reven: cant i just call up support and get given a password (its really bad if i cant)? dont want to have to spend money on an adapter.

Allowing customer care to access all passwords on subscribers financial accounts might be considered a bad idea from a security point of view... probably why it only gets sent to you via text message so it bypasses customer care for everyone's protection.

not access to pwd, just access to reset it.

if everything is encrypted/hashed (which it will be)  they dont need to see anything.  heck they dont need the db at all, just a easy "reset customers password" button.

or at the very least, the option to set a customers email address, and send the new password to that.

Well, they CAN reset it. And then it sends you a new password via SMS!

just bought a new full sized sim, rang support and they didnt really help.

anyone here from 2d, can help me out?

i have 2 sim cards, 1 normal, 1 micro. both have $20 (or thereabouts, maybe a few cents less on micro since i was checking it was working with google). i want to setup full size account and get password texted to me, and then i want to transfer that account to microsim and combine the credit. possible? this is getting to be a bit of drama (just for a password :))

No it is not possible to keep credit from both sims..... The micro sim you would have been sent from customer services would have been blank unlike your dick smith bought $20 sim.

Which is why the package from DSE has the words in the top right hand side on the FRONT "For use with mobile phone only" and makes no reference to the iPAD and also why the DSE system itself has in the information fields to be used with the iphone only.

The customer services team can not access the web side of the database, just the end data, like what you have been doing, who you called etc...  In terms of the password, they can only reset the thing which will send you a text message.

I'm going to my App making people and see what they can do for us... Will get back to ya when I get a reply...

Hi Reven, yep, as said before we can't transfer the balance from one SIM to another.  Glad you got the password sorted on the MicroSIM.

This is what we advise if you haven't got a 2degrees SIM.  By a $5 SIM activate it and set up your details in 'Your 2degrees' then call us on 0800 022022 and ask for a free blank MicroSIM which we'll send onto you.  When you get it, call us back and we'll swap your number and credit over to the MicroSIM.
