Has anyone else had any issues with trying to sign up to 2'Degrees "pay monthly" and been rejected at the drivers license verification step claiming the details don't match the records or similar.....?

Yep I had the Problem also an had to call them a few times to have it all sorted
They gotta it goin finally ah

There are a few issues we've seen crop up. The most common is for people who have gotten extra license classes (e.g. heavy vehicle). The LTSA changes the license version but doesn't send out a new license, so when you enter the version number on the license you're holding it doesn't match. A call to LTSA will get you the correct version.

The other common one is basically a data entry error at the LTSA, where the whole name ends up in the first name or last name field.

There are some other related ones; we're trying to sort them all out.

Salty - What's the deal for people who don't hold a drivers licence at all?

Others here have rightly suggested that it's strange for 2 Degrees to imply that everyone over 18 owns or drives a car, but I am yet to see 2 Degrees respond to this point.

Credit applications departments can be pretty thorough.

If you apply for services under John Doe, but your NZDL name is Johnathan Doe then your credit application might be rejected.

Likewise, if there is one typo in your DOB, it may be rejected.

Pays to double check these details with the person taking your order. As far as non NZDL holders go, I would presume that they should be able to accept a passport, 18+ card, or birth certificate coupled with proof of residence?

I'm afraid nothing seems to be helping me - i understand from reading the above posts it may be an issue with data from NZTA. However i have made three calls to NZTA and all different staff have confirmed my details as on my license are correct - i have also made multiple calls to 2 Degrees mobile, the latest resulting in a call back from someone who advised it would now work. When i tried the form again, it didn't. I think i'l leave it for now and hope it does in the future. But if theres anyone who can help that would be great...

We appreciate that providing a drivers licence as proof of identification is not ideal for all people. We'll be accepting other forms of identification soon (such as passports), we'll let you know when this will be available.

Wouldn't a credit card number do?? At least you know that they would pay..

Unfortunately a credit card number isn't proof of identification and we need to know who you are to enable a credit check to be carried out to enable you to sign up to Pay Monthly.
We do accept credit card payment of course, along with Direct Debit for Pay Monthly once we know who you are :)

But why is a driver license required to do a credit check.?? That' a first for me. I have had credit checks done in the past year and never had to product a driver license to confirm who I was. After all the drivers license is not supposed to be a ID card in NZ..

It is simply a way of verifying your identity.  There are of course other ways but the drivers license is one that can be easily automated, Courierpost use it for online parcel redirection.

Other methods like 18+ cards, passports, bank issued cards are much harder as you really need to see them to verify them.

2 Degrees will have chosen drivers license only as their method because it would have allowed them to launch quickly and have an automated system.  Also, most people over 18 have some form of drivers license, even if it is just a learner license.

I have exactly the same problem, with the same outcomes. Further to that I was told tonight that it could take up to 6 days to resolve...
