They say good things take time... we took the time, so you can get the good stuff now!

We're sure you've heard about the Ultra-Fast Broadband initiative, bringing Fibre to the home in urban areas over the next 10 years. Snap is ready and raring to go, if UFB has been deployed in your neighborhood, give us a yell!

But what if (Murphy's Law) you are last on that list? What if you can't wait? What if you need speed now?

VDSL2 (Very-High-Speed Digital Subscriber Line version 2) is the latest and greatest in broadband technology and is available now for snap! customers! VDSL2 gives significantly faster data transmission rates (both downstream and upstream) compared to ADSL2+ and is already widely available across the country*

Right now if you sign up for a 24 month term you can get a VDSL capable FRITZ!Box 7340, Snaps supported VDSL2 router, for just $160, that’s less than half price! And we'll even have it delivered free of charge! Not only that but we will halve the monthly VDSL2 upgrade cost to a tiny $25!

You can choose from any of the Naked plans on our website, and provided VDSL is available in your area, we’ll hook you up as soon as we can!

That means you can have VDSL2 at home for only $85 per month!

*VDSL may not be available in all areas; a prequalification check by Snap will determine service availability

Sounds awesome! What's next?

Just head on over to either our Naked Broadband @ Home or our Naked Broadband @ Work signup page and get connected!

Additional Terms and Conditions apply
  • VDSL Upgrade fee
    - $25 including GST for @Home plans (Total $25.00)
    - $25 excluding GST for @Work plans (Total $28.75)
  • Contract term is 24 months; an early termination fee of $150 will apply if connection is discontinued at any point prior to 24 months.
  • Wiring may be required; additional charges will apply and will be advised on application.
  • Normal Snap Terms and Conditions apply.

Can you explain why Business Data is so much more expensive than Residential Data?

Probably different bandwidth allocations & quality control.

Also suckers are willing to pay that much. Business deals yield better returns than residential.

Hey Ralph, how's about us EXISTING VDSL peoples, can you talk to the powers that be and see if we can get the $25 deal too please, since we already have our fritzboxes we cannot get that deal, but it would be great if snap could come to the party and give us existing VDSL peoples the discount as well :) :) :)

Pretty please :)

If we get the router off you, and the install all goes to custard can we return the now un-needed vdsl router to you for a refund?

Also the $400 and something wiring charge, is that something you dont need on naked with a single jackpoint?

Also I have the grandfathered naked plan and the grandfathered google $2 addon. If I go for this and it doesnt work can I go back onto the plans I am on or would I end up paying $5 for the google and whatever the new naked plans are when going back to adsl 2?

I asked about this and apparently, most of the time, if you already have ADSL2 then you won't need to pay a wiring charge.

Ok. I will apply for it once I have moved my jackpoints so they are not located behind a server rack in a tiny under-the-stairs closet so I can try another line cable to see if that helps my adsl speeds - and since I assume a chorus tech would want to get to it if they come onsite. At $50 I wasnt really convinced that it would be worth it, but at $25 and with the much more reasonable data prices from snap it really is a no brainer.

Wonder if snap can get a majority of their customers over to vdsl as a result of this?

Most ISP's in NZ only provide Naked VDSL, more or less for quality assurance - The Fritzbox supports SIP which means you can have VoIP like 2talk going through it in a jiffy though.

It's not the end of the world.

i asked and according to Snap yes, but you need to pay the wiring charge if you only have filters on your phone jacks as Vdsl wont work with them.
they told me chorus would install a splitter and then i could run a phone of one jack and Vdsl of another jack

This is where the $400 wiring charge comes in :)

http://www.chorus.co.nz/maps shows if you're one of the lucky ones in years 1/2 (see layers)  though I'm not sure how you tell if you're in one of those areas which year or whether it's already been rolled out... maybe just contact ISP if you're in the year 1/2 area.  And keep an eye out for them laying it, lol

Looking at the growth of the rollout areas... my area will probably be 2015 or later :-/  so quite interested in VDSL options ;-)
