Napster: Apparently you can reset that no support warning by running the fritzbox recovery tool.

Also to change the Training SNRM you have to edit the cfg file through telnet.

Hi,
Do you know if you can also alter the snr margin of a vdsl connection like we could do on adsl2+?
If yes, do you advise to do it after DLM has finished its work? (I don't want to get back to interleaved mode).
Thanks

Yea you can, to do this you have to edit the ar7.cfg file via telnet. This is for the Fritzbox.

After a week you should be good to go and change the SNRM. If you don't want to be moved off the low latency profile then i would not do any changes and leave the line at default settings.

If you do decide to do the SNRM tweak and DLM puts you on another profile you can always reset your SNRM back to default and DLM will hopefully move you back to a low latency profile. Can take a few weeks for this though.

While we're on the subject of low latency profiles Napster, what were the Fritz 'Line Settings' you changed to get down to 1ms latency?

I left everything at default settings. When i changed the line settings DLM did not seem to change profiles at all.

Ah right, I read a previous post of yours wrong, I see you played with them but there was no change....

McGee: I've seen every single VDSL circuit that I've worked on throw up that many errors, It's not uncommon.
I haven't found it to be service effecting as of yet.

I would have thought that the more errors you have the less likely you are to be put onto a lower latency / higher sync profile, but I guess it's all relative; 2000 per minute seems like a lot, but if I'm pulling 40 million bits per minute it's not too bad :)

it's using forward error correction, so errors will be a percent of bits allowed to be wrong without having to resend data or drop packets... as long as you're under that you're fine, as soon as you're over it's screwed.

but as long as unrecoverable errors is 0 how many errors you have shouldn't matter.

Well, I'm at the end of my first 10 day period.  I had a profile change again last night and now my stats are:

I see that while most settings are unchanged, INP is now back to 0.0 and also my errors are back down to a much lower level, which is interesting!

These are also my stats after DLM optimisation and tweaking, I wish the cabinet would be closer to me but I still have twice the speed in downstream compared to adsl2+ and 9x the speed in upstream so I quite happy with this for now.
I have seen many errors since I'm on a vdsl circuit but that did not change my quality of service, I have stable downloads at 4MB/s.
I have to say that I'm quite impressed that Snap offered such a good deal, especially with the Fritz!box that has so many features compared to ordinary routers!

Mate, I think you're doing pretty damn well to get those stats with 19db attenuation!! What tweaking did you do & how long has it taken to get onto a non-interleaved profile?

It took me 6 days to go to a non-interleaved profile, I did nothing special apart from not rebooting too often my box until DLM was happy and set the better profile.
Then I have lowered my snr to 6 which has increased the downstream throughput by 1MB/s. I did not find a solution for the upstream yet.

Was that 6 days from initial connection?

Those stats are similar to mine and I'm 5-600m from the cabinet. I'm on an interleaved profile at the moment however, so in that respect you're doing better than I am! I'm hoping that I'll be changed to a non-interleaved profile in time.

Mine has changed to 1ms again after 6 days too.

Nice! I wonder what the criteria for non-interleaved profiles is?
