networkn: Can we get multiple IP's on business connections? Yes you can I've been told you can get /29s etc but you would need to ask about pricing.

Hi Richard, It's only really available on naked because with a POTS line, you need to have a splitter installed (expensive), the speeds can't be guaranteed as well as we can with nDSL. Hope this all helps! People need to remember that a splitter isn't something Chorus has to put in. There are plenty of installers around the country that can install it for you. Then you can just ring the awesome guys at Snap! and they can connect your VDSL. i can't remember exactly but i think I saw CoffeeBaron's price was $150ish

The gent I was just talking to at Snap said that VDSL and POTS with a splitter is not recommended, and that I should put the vdsl2 on a second line, which has the same wiring charge as installing the splitter. Then, because I no longer had the home broadband and phone in the same bundle he advised I might lose my free 03 calling... He is going to confirm and get back to me on whether I can retain the free 03 calling.

RalphFromSnap: We aren't completely opposed to having people on POTS with VDSL - in the end if you are willing to get a full wiring install done with a splitter installed, then it should work fine. The reason there needs to be a splitter, is because the POTS interfers a lot more with VDSL and a normal filter just won't cut it! It's worth noting that a central splitter will also help with any existing in-house wiring issues which can cause performance to degrade, regardless of having POT's or not.

Yes stops issues between Sky, Alarms, phones, internet. Personally I think it should be mandatory! They just need to drop the price of the install down at Chorus.

Would this really make any difference in my case? 3) Is there any measurable difference in quality between different splitters? you get all the information. line from road -----> splitter -------> dsl wires \| --------> phone wires of course you should run 2 seprate phone jacks, one dsl and one phone. a total newbie can do this and chrous are theives.. if you have no POTS then you dont need a splitter but it is advisable to put one in anyway..

What i did with my VDSL install was moving our phone number over to a voip service for $10 a month and then upgrade from adsl2+ with pots to VDSL naked. Did not cost us anything. Only way i could dodge a new install for $400 I then took the direct copper feed into the property which was in the roof and moved it to a wall jack. So our VDSL has a nice clean line. Ideally i would like to have crimped a RJ-11 plug onto the end of the line lol

They are fairly straight forward, If your house wasn't built a bazilion years ago then you should be fine. It should come with a small diagram to show you what colors etc to connect. I've only installed these for some ADSL lines but has made quite a different in stability and performance. Potentially would be redundant doing it with naked especially if you're running it straight from the road / arial feed into one jackpoint. But hey at the end of the day it's not a huge loss if it didn't make a bit difference - Plus future proofs the house for the next owners.

Leaving the other jacks still connected may cause extra noise on the line and added attenuation. Best to always have a dedicated line that terminates at the jackpoint for a DSL service.
