German T-Mobile created an integrated package, initially available for users of Nokia 3650 and 7650 mobile phones, enabling a new class of in car navigation systems.
The Navigate Bluekit software is installed on a mobile phone, which connects via Bluetooth to a dashboard mounted GPS receiver. The user can enter a destination point using the mobile phone, and this information with the current position is transmitted to a server. This server then calculates route, traffic conditions and time, sending voice instructions and display instructions back to the driver.
Each route costs €1.99 (about £1.35). GPRS fees are applicable. T-Mobile is offering the NaviGate BlueKit with a Nokia 3650 for €349,95 (£240).
