Mitac to start shipments of its Windows Mobile Smartphone Mitac  8380 in Taiwan and Hong Kong
Mitac expects to start shipping their new Mio 8380 in Taiwan and Hong Kong by 17th July.

This mobile phone based on Windows Mobile Smartphone system is a clamshell design. Specifications include:

  • CPU Intel PXA255 200MHz
  • OS Microsoft Smartphone 2002
  • Display1 2.2" Transflecive TFT LCD w/LED Back-light, 16 bit-per-pixel, 64K Colors
  • Resolution 176 x 220 Portrait Mode
  • Display2 EL 64 x 48 bit - Displays: Time, Battery status, Battery charging, complete Status, Signal strength & Caller ID
  • Memory 32MB ROM / 16MB 100MHz SDRAM
  • Audio 40 polyphonies ring tone
  • WAN Triband GSM/GPRS Class 10 device
  • GPRS Class B device
  • Integrated digital camera (110,000 pixels)

    The handset retails for NT$16,800 (about US$489) in Taiwan and will be available through 3C retail shops run by Synnex Technology International. In Hong Kong, the handset will be priced at HK$3,880 (about US$497). Beverley Pacific International, the sole distributor for Sony Ericsson handsets in Hong Kong, will handle distribution.
