Heads up for new mobiles coming to Vodafone
Rumours about a couple of new mobile phones coming to Vodafone New Zealand.

A couple of months ago I asked to our local distributor about a Windows Mobile smartphone. The distributor confirmed something was coming before the end of the year. Then some of you may remember I had the chat with my Microsoft source who showed me the HTC Tanager running the Windows Mobile Smarpthone 2003. Now the update: a friend on Vodafone confirmed there are plans to release a Windows Mobile smartphone with the Vodafone brand, and Brightpoint is going to distribute it. Most likely it'll be a QTEK 7070.

QTEK 7070 or i-Mate

More interesting is that my Microsoft source sent me an e-mail saying that we might see a Windows Mobile smartphone with Bluetooth here in New Zealand. This means it's running Windows Mobile Smartphone 2003 from the start. Perhaps he told me this because he is worried of my new Symbian Sony Ericsson P800?

The other story goes like this: first I heard someone saying "I saw the Sony Ericsson P900 in town today". I then asked to a Vodafone source about this, and yes, there are a few of this new Symbian mobile smartphone around New Zealand, mainly for testing and certification. And they'll be out soon!

Exciting news for the local mobile market.
