The World's Smallest TV Festival is coming to a mobile near you
Posted on 12-Nov-2003 23:00 | Filed under: News

The World’s Smallest TV Festival is an event designed to capture developments and the potential for the emerging TV to Mobile Phone market. One of the greatest challenge in broadcasting today is building and maintaining an audience, a task which has become increasingly more difficult given our mobile lifestyle. Billions of people today rely on mobile phones for voice and data communications, and a significant number of these people will soon rely on their wireless phones for visual content and information. Rather than replace traditional broadcasting methods, mobile video will enrich and enhance the television experience by building community and creating an interactive relationship with viewers.

The World’s Smallest TV Festival provides an online competition for mobile video content. Producers submit short clips into this competition. Each entry is formatted to appeal to a mobile television audience, and fit smoothly into mobile lifestyles.

Will people really watch ‘Friends’ on their phones? No. But they will watch short bursts of content that is related to popular broadcast programming, and will rely on their mobile devices to enhance their television viewing experience. Just as viewers used their mobile phones to text message their votes on ‘American Idol’, these same viewers and more will use their multimedia-capable phones to participate in related programming, link to sponsor-supported advertising, and build a more solid relationship with broadcast content owners.
