Advent calendars in your mobile
Many people this Christmas will be opening their Advent Calendar windows whilst on the move. The Advent Calendar hanging on the kitchen wall and opened each day throughout Advent is one of those great family traditions dating back to who knows when. But this year for the first time ever, technology is moving in and people will be checking out their latest Advent photos whilst sat on trains or in bars or anywhere that they have their mobile phone.

Mobile Advent has been built by Messages, a UK mobile solutions company. The company is also offering other websites, businesses, newspapers, etc their own branded version of the calendar; a fantastic opportunity for businesses to offer something to their clients, readers and users which promotes the brand and provides everybody with some mobile Christmas fun.

Once installed on a phone, Mobile Advent displays a simple screen that looks like any other advent calendar with 25 windows - actually 26 because until 1st December only a single "teaser" window can be opened. To open a window the person simply moves the pointer over it and clicks. The calendar then connects to the persons mobile operator and downloads that day's picture. The image can be saved for viewing later on and there is even a cool viral option to let the person send a copy of it to a friends email address and wish them a Happy Christmas.

Messages have provided two versions of the calendar, a traditional one and something slightly naughtier for the adults. Getting the traditional version of Mobile Advent onto your phone is very straightforward. All what is needed is a new colour and Java enabled mobile phone. Send an sms text messages with the word advent to 80210 (UK). Within a few minutes you will receive a text message which contains a bookmark link. This bookmark should be opened with a WAP browser and the download process will begin. The cost of the calendar is just GBP1 plus network costs.
