According to the latest PalmSource Developer Newsletter, PalmSource and Tribeworks have teamed up to kick-start a new category of Palm OS application development. iShell Mobile from Tribeworks enables content developers to rapidly create rich interactive multimedia (i.e., video, animation, VR, sound) applications for Palm OS.
The application lets developers build applications on the desktop (Windows and Mac OS X) that will run on Palm Powered devices. iShell Mobile works in conjunction with Kinoma Player, the most popular media player for the Palm OS.
iShell Mobile offers extensive media support, including all media formats supported by QuickTime, such as full screen Video, streaming Video, MP3 music, Flash, most image types and more. Text handling in iShell is done via standard HTML.
iShell Mobile includes:
Drag and drop user interface, no scripting required
Kinoma movies with audio, video, and animation
Extensive support for VR panoramas and objects
Time-based commands for building interactive video projects
Power management features
Text support: HTML and scrolling
Support for databases, variables, and conditionals
Virtual key support, allowing support for any Palm OS button
Integration with Palm OS Memo Pad and Datebook
Current Palm OS developers can order iShell Mobile online directly from Tribeworks.
