Ericsson Mobile Platforms has signed a license agreement with RealNetworks, Inc., where by Ericsson will integrate the media engine of the RealOne Player, the Helix DNA Client, and the RealAudio and RealVideo codecs into its platforms offerings.

Ericsson will optimize RealNetworks' technology for high quality digital media playback on mobile devices using the Ericsson reference design. By integrating these applications in current and next generation mobile devices, manufacturers are able to provide consumers access to the wide array of Internet multimedia content available today.

"With the inclusion of RealNetworks' core media engine and codecs in our platforms we expand the capability of our platforms to access more rich multimedia content over wireless networks," said Sandeep Chennakeshu, President of Ericsson Mobile Platforms.
