Pointsec Mobile Technologies signs agreement with Volvo IT
Posted on 24-Dec-2003 17:23 | Tags Filed under: News

Pointsec Mobile Technologies, a subsidiary of IT security company Protect Data has signed a license agreement with the vehicle manufacturer Volvo IT. The order consists of 2,500 licenses for the encryption solution Pointsec for Pocket PC 2.1 including support and maintenance.

Pointsec for Pocket PC 2.1 is a security product for Windows Mobile 2003-based personal digital assistants (PDAs). The security application offers automatic, real-time encryption of all data on a userīs PDA, including documents created with Microsoft Outlook, Notes, Pocket Word and more. Pointsec for Pocket PC 2.1 also automatically secures data stored on removable media.

Deployed by the enterprise from a central location via wireless download, Pointsec for Pocket PC 2.1 offers enforceable mandatory access control using a choice of password methods. Its PicturePIN and QuickPIN authentication technologies are innovative and improved methods compared to traditional alphanumeric login passwords; picture-based login codes are easier to remember and far more user-friendly for mobile devices with small screens and hard-to-use mini-keyboards.

PointSec also offers its customers solutions for Windows-based computers, Pocket PC, Palm OS and Symbian OS.
