Drop a mobile phone in your beer, claim from insurance

British mobile phone retailer The Carphone Warehouse has revealed that insurance claims double in December as handsets are accidentally dropped in pints of beer during the festive season.

"Thousands of phones are dropped into pints each year," comments Duncan Spencer, Head of Insurance, at The Carphone Warehouse. "But we've seen a massive increase in calls to our Lifeline insurance centre on Friday and Saturday mornings in December!"

Excuses range from 'I was at the swimming baths' to 'Erm, it fell out of my pocket' but in most cases 'my friend' spilt beer over it'.

Customers who have taken out Carphone Warehouse lifeline insurance need not worry though, as the company covers water (or should we say liquid) damage and honours over 94% of all claims.
