Posted on 25-Sep-2016 11:44 | Filed under: News

At OpenWorld 2016 Oracle unveiled new products, solutions and partnership opportunities to help its customers transition to the cloud in faster, simpler and more cost effective ways.

IaaS
The Oracle Cloud Platform was enhanced with a broad array of Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) offerings.  These include bare metal cloud servers that provide customers with a simple way to migrate large and complex IT infrastructures to the Cloud, and to use the security and management controls that their IT teams already know, via utilising Virtual Cloud Network (VCN) to connect their existing resources to the Oracle Cloud as if it were a part of their own data centre.

Also announced was Oracle Ravello Cloud Service, the first cloud service in the industry that enables organisations to take enterprise VMware and Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM) workloads and run them in the public cloud without any changes.

PaaS
Oracle introduced the latest release of Oracle Database - 12c Release 2 - designed for the Cloud first, which will provide businesses of all sizes with access to the world’s fastest, most scalable and reliable database technology in a cost-effective and flexible Cloud environment.

SaaS
Also unveiled was Oracle’s strategy for its next generation Software as a Service (SaaS) Cloud offerings that blend third-party data with real-time analytics and behavioural inputs to create intelligent Cloud Applications that adapt and learn. These Adaptive Intelligent Applications automatically offer individualised recommended actions and streamline tasks for business users.

Analytics
Other innovations to business analytics capabilities were introduced to the Oracle Analytics Cloud. They include a high performance analytic processing infrastructure that is designed for the public cloud. It encompasses a broad suite of tools for data preparation, discovery, visualisation and collaboration.

Channel partners
A new Oracle Cloud Managed Service Provider program was introduced for partners in the OraclePartnerNetwork (OPN) to connect members with customers who are seeking support for complete managed service solutions for workloads running on Oracle PaaS and IaaS. OPN partners will be able to buy Oracle Cloud Platform based on the unique needs of their customers, package their MSP services and sell an integrated solution through a streamlined business model.

Also on the partner front, Accenture will become Oracle’s first cloud managed service provider across Oracle’s public cloud. The expansion of these capabilities further positions Accenture as Oracle’s largest global systems integrator (GSI) and as a leader in Oracle Public Cloud.
