The importance of protecting business information as cyber-attacks continue to escalate has seen leading telco Vocus Communications launch new products to help businesses protect against cyber threats and limit any downtime with a cloud based data backup service.
Customers are able to subscribe to next generation Hosted Firewall service which protects against cyber threats and Backup As A Service, to safely and conveniently store business data in the cloud – for easy retrieval in the instance of any loss or corruption.
The extension of Vocus’ product portfolio in the security and cloud spaces is part of the company’s exciting innovation roadmap says Vocus Communications Director of Wholesale, Corporate and Government division, Maxine Elliott.
“Our fibre network is the most modern available for Kiwi businesses, but as the number and severity of cyber-attacks increase globally, we need to help shelter businesses by offering protection services that are easily added to connectivity solutions,” says Elliott.
“It can be easy for companies down under to fall into the trap of thinking they are unlikely to be the target of global hackers, who seem to be more interested in leaking US and UK political wires than say, attacking a Kiwi business’ data. However, many Kiwi companies are vulnerable with outdated and mismanaged solutions.”
Vocus Communications’ new Gartner Magic Quadrant leading Hosted Firewall service helps protect business data from cyber security threats. The next generation firewall system includes anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-spam, web/content filtering, secure remote access application control and an Intrusion Prevention System (IPS).
The cloud based Backup As A Service is an automated system that enables businesses to backup data and servers to the NZ based Vocus Cloud. The service is fully automated and customers can restore important business data quickly when they need it.
“Gone are the days of reliability issues or the painful and time consuming tape backups,” Elliott says.
Both newly launched Vocus Communications products are cost-effective subscription services, meaning there are no up-front CAPEX costs. They are easy and quick to set up, in line with Vocus Communications’ ‘straight forward’ philosophy and fully customisable solutions are available to be tailored for individual business needs.
“Preventing a threat or a loss of information is always the best protection so it’s crucial Kiwi businesses are proactive in protecting their business and preparing their back-up plan.
“Vocus Communications is dedicated to becoming a leader in cyber security with NZ based systems and support to always keep your business one step ahead and your precious data safe,” says Elliott.
