BOnTime 2.0 for Pocket PC released
Bsystems has announced a new version of its time recording program for Windows Mobile Pocket PC, including a new XML based storage. According to some information posted on the developer's website, this helps reducing the amount of memory needed to run the application, since the SQL Server CE is no longer needed. Also the XML file format is native to .Net, making it easier for future developments.

Apart from the reduced install size from not having SQL Server CE installed (which can take up 2 Mb of precious memory), this new version contains significant improvements upon previous versions:

  • 437 kb Install Footprint on Windows Mobile Pocket PC 2003 devices
  • New week summary
  • Four time entry methods for the ultimate in flexibility
  • Enhanced granular control of interface
  • Work with multiple files (keep your night work separate from your day work)
  • New Block entry method - perfect for lawyers and anyone working in blocks of time (e.g. 15 minute blocks)
  • New One Touch entry method - easily flick from one task to another with a single tap

The updated website contains discussion forums for support and other issues, plus a Quick Start Guide.

The price? If you already own a copy of BOnTime - you will pay nothing for the upgrade (just go to your handango account page and download the update when it is released). If you dont already own a copy of BOnTime, the price will be the same as it is now - US$14.95.
