Rogers AT&T Wireless is will release the Siemens SX56 handset, powered by Microsoft's Pocket PC Phone Edition operating system. The phone is set to go on sale in a few weeks. The main target for Rogers AT&T are business customers.
Rogers also plans to bring a Smartphone 2002-based cell phone later on.
About 40 percent of Canada's phone users, around 12 million people, use cell phones.
The deal with Rogers is similar to the one Microsoft reached last year with U.S. company AT&T Wireless, which partly owns Rogers in Canada.
Bell Mobility, the wireless arm of Bell Canada sells the Thera, which uses Pocket PC Phone Edition.
Rogers and Bell have 3.3 million subscribers each. Telus Mobility comes in second with 3 million subscribers.
