LogicaCMG develops mobile ticket service for Dutch Railways

Posted on 7-Feb-2004 11:02 | Filed under: News

LogicaCMG and Dutch Railways International are running a trial of a new mobile ticket service available for ICE International travellers heading from Amsterdam to Cologne/Frankfurt in Germany. The pilot system will mean travellers from Holland no longer have to line up to buy their train ticket, if they have access to a mobile phone and an Internet connection.

After having booked a ticket on the website of NS International, the consumer receives an SMS-ticket on his mobile phone. Once in the train, the conductor will check the unique code in the SMS. The service is especially convenient for last minute travellers. Tickets can be booked one hour in advance.

The service is based on LogicaCMG's mobile ticketing system. This system has not only been proven to be very useful for public transport companies, but also provides possibilities for amusement parks and other situations where tickets or coupons have to be distributed to large numbers of consumers.
