Sybase's new version of Pocket PowerBuilder

Sybase has announced Sybase Pocket PowerBuilder 1.5, a new version of the company's integrated application development environment for mobile and wireless enterprise applications.

Pocket PowerBuilder 1.5 delivers new features, including:

  • Easy-to-use integrated development environment (IDE) with full object oriented (OO) language -- Hundreds of built-in functions, many ready-to-use components, and drag and drop RAD programming means enterprise application development time is significantly reduced, saving time and money.

  • Patented DataWindow technology -- Unparalleled data access, processing and presentation specifically targeted for mobile devices, all without coding, enables enterprise data to be delivered quickly and securely to mobile users whenever and wherever they need it.

  • MobiLink synchronization -- Locally stored data and minimized battery draining connection time enables up-to-date data for mobile users. Bi-directional data synchronization is used to integrate with other enterprise databases including, Sybase Adaptive Server(R) Enterprise, IBM DB2, Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle. Wizard-driven programming and tight integration with Sybase iAnywhere SQL Anywhere means reliability and rich enterprise level functionality for mobile developers and end users.

  • Fingerprint recognition technology -- New native objects that encapsulate operating system and device-specific APIs to further simplify programming. These include the Pocket Outlook Object Model, Rich Ink, Notification bubble, HP 5400 &5500 series iPAQ Biometric Scanner and Symbol Barcode Scanner.

    Sybase Pocket PowerBuilder 1.5 has a list price of US$1,295, and is available with promotion price of US$495 through the end of March 2004.
