What Vodafone wants from 3G?
The German news magazine Focus has published an interview with Vodafone's CEO, Arun Sarin. Matthew Langham at Mobitopia posted a summary of this interview, translated into English.

Arun Sarin sees more and more people owning several mobile devices, and mobile services expanding into other IT areas. Sarin says that the mobile phone will become your music-player, camera, camcorder and wallet of the future.

Sarin says that one of the reasons for the UMTS delays lies in the fact that Vodafone wants the UMTS mobile phones to be just as good as the current ones. This includes making them as small as the ones available today, making sure the batteries last as long and providing a network that doesn't cut you off as you move about (handover between UMTS and traditional GSM). But he sees a large number of handsets being available by September/October.
