It's bad to be a SMS spammer - in UK
Posted on 11-Feb-2003 07:36 | Tags Filed under: News

The Register reports that British ICSTIS (Independent Committee for the Supervision of Standards of Telephone Information Services) slapped a fine in a spammer sending ads via SMS.

The service was fined 15,000 and access to the service barred for one year.

Phone users would receive a text message telling they had won a "150 prize". They had to call a number, but were not advised the costs and length of the call.
