The Register reports that British ICSTIS (Independent Committee for the Supervision of Standards of Telephone Information Services) slapped a fine in a spammer sending ads via SMS.
The service was fined £ 15,000 and access to the service barred for one year.
Phone users would receive a text message telling they had won a "£150 prize". They had to call a number, but were not advised the costs and length of the call.
