Walker Wireless finished a trial, and the New Zealand Herald reports they now have plans to cover 75% of Auckland by the year's end.
Prices are explained in the article, and are very competitive, when compared with CDMA services provided by Telecom New Zealand "Mobile Jetstream".
The pricing is a split in speed levels - an entry level "Ultamo One" 128kbps (kilobit per second) service for $58 a month with a 5GB (gigabyte) data cap, a 256kbps service with a 1GB data cap for $75 a month ($129 for 4GB of data) and a 384kbps service for $175 a month with a 2GB cap.
The user also has to pay a setup fee, plus the portable IP wireless modem.
Walker Wireless received some funds from Vodafone New Zealand as part of their development process (see this previous article).
