Psion Teklogix launches Workabout PRO Windows CE .Net
Psion Teklogix launched the Workabout PRO, a Windows CE .NET based handheld computer for data collection in harsh environments.

An evolution of the Psion Workabout, the Workabout PRO features a wide range of expansion, radio and data input options augmented by extensive device customization capabilities through Psion Teklogix hardware and software development kits.

Available in two models, the entry-level Workabout PRO M has a monochrome touch display, 32MB Flash and 64MB SDRAM and the Workabout PRO C adds a colour touch display, an embedded Bluetooth radio, 32MB Flash and 128MB SDRAM. Both LCD are QVGA 320x240.

With Windows CE .NET and the Intel XScale processor serving as a platform, the company promisses a device that will work with GSM/GPRS, Bluetooth and 802.11b standards. Bluetooth is standard on the PRO C model, and an add on on the PRO model. A 802.11.b card is available, while GSM/GPRS or CDMA 1xRTT are available with expansion interfaces.

The handheld has an IP54 rating and ability to withstand drops from four feet to concrete. These handhelds will be available in the June 2004 timeframe in North America, Europe and Asia.
