CU928 Windows Mobile Pocket PC Phone Edition launched on the Chinese market
The CU928 is the first operator-customized device to support China Unicom’s new U-Web mobile data service, recently released, and also China’s first CDMA 1xRTT Windows Mobile based device.

The launch of U-Web service and Windows Mobile-based CU928 is the result of the partnership between China Unicom and Microsoft. The two companies established a strategic alliance in early 2003 to collaborate on mobile data services.

Based on Windows Mobile 2003 software for Pocket PC, the CU928 is the first device available in the Chinese Market to deliver the rich data content to customers taking advantage of Microsoft’s Media Player 9. This will enable customers to watch live TV programs, order videos and movies, and even check real time traffic conditions.

The new Pocket PC uses an Intel PAX265 400MHz CPU and the Qualcomm MM5500 for the radio part. It comes with 64MB RAM and 64MB ROM, it has 240x320x64K pixel TFT-LCD display and a 300 pixels camera. It also supports IrDA and Bluetooth. Unlike other converged devices on the market, it supports a full slide-down keyboard and full-screen handwriting input.
