Danger, Inc. has signed an agreement with Yahoo! and the two companies have developed a mobile instant messaging client for Danger's hiptop Wireless Solution. The first launch of Yahoo! Messenger on a hiptop device is with Starhub, a wireless carrier based in Singapore, that began offering the hiptop on 15 May 2004.
Wireless carriers that sell the hiptop device will choose to either bundle the Yahoo! Messenger application with the standard application package or offer it as an instant messaging option through the device Catalog, a tool for offering new content and applications to consumers for download.
The hiptop is a wireless all-in-one device that combines a fully featured mobile phone with a variety of high-speed data communication applications, including an HTML Web browser, an embedded email account, instant messaging, a personal organizer, a camera accessory, games and other features.
