Pocket PC Magazine August / September 2004 issue in MS Reader format
In this issue:

  • Microsoft recently released the Second Edition of Windows Mobile 2003. Second Edition has many new features and enhancements including dynamic switching between landscape and portrait views, support for VGA and QVGA screens, and more. This issue has a detailed description of all the new features and enhancements.
  • The New i-mate Windows Mobile 2003 Pocket PC Phone Edition and Smartphone devices have unlocked GSM phones, built-in camera, and integrate Bluetooth capability. Read the reviews of these two devices.
  • NEC and Psion have released new Handheld PCs based on the Windows CE NET 4.2 OS. Editor Richard Hall takes a detailed look at these two new handheld PCs.
  • Games Editor Allen Gall picks the top ten Pocket PC games. You can read his short reviews too. In his other Games Roundup column he reviews some recent Pocket PC games including Gilbert Goodmate, Stuntman Evolution, Extinction, and more.
  • John Ottini reviews the new Rand McNally Interactive Road Atlas, and the Oxford American Desk Dictionary and Thesaurus.
  • Pocket PCs have made their way into classrooms. Read the cover story on how the Pocket PCs are impacting education and learning in the Enterprise section.
  • Ed Hansberry walks you through the steps to set up a VPN connection on a Pocket PC.
  • For Tim Hillerbrand, the Pocket PC has been a marriage saver, read his article, "How the Pocket PC Saved My Marriage". Faron Davis accomplishes a lot with his Pocket PC, he provides the details on what he does with Pocket PC in his article, "40 Things I Did with My Pocket PC".
  • Many desktop games are now being ported to the Pocket PCs. G.R. Moore uses the example of Warlords II game to show what is involved in porting a desktop game to a Pocket PC. He has some good tips too.
  • Bluetooth is now started to appear on many Pocket PC and Smartphone devices. An article by Dan Hanttula details the various things that you can accomplish with Bluetooth and various applications that can help in accomplishing these tasks.
