Ok, so Auckland decided to follow the Wellington steps (no competition here!) and formed their Auckland Windows Mobile User Group too. Their first meeting will be Thursday July 22, 2004, from 6pm until about 9pm. Users will meet at the Dinghy Locker Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron. This time the venue, drinks and nibbles are kindly brought to users by Vodafone New Zealand.

The agenda is this:

6:15 Welcome and Introductions

6:30 Nathan Mercer (Technology Specialist, Microsoft) will be presenting an Introduction to Windows Mobile and showing the range of devices and solutions.

6:45 Pradeepa de Silva (Product Manager, Microsoft) will be demonstrating a few cool digital media scenarios made possible with Plus! Digital Media Edition and Windows Mobile Devices.

7:00 Lukas Svoboda (CTO, Orbiz) will talk through the possibilities of solutions development for Smart Devices and some of the cool features of the devices which make this development possible.

7:30 Tim Hayward and Jon Feather (Globility) will be going through connecting Windows Mobile devices via the Vodafone network - The options and key aspects to consider when developing applications for this market. And "The mobile worker” - mobilising Exchange 2003 on Windows Mobile devices.

There will be a free copy of Plus! Digital Media Edition for each attendee and 5 Windows Mobile Windbreakers to give away courtesy of Microsoft. There will also be an i-mate Smartphone2 for one lucky attendee courtesy of Vodafone New Zealand.
