A new fast CPU is now available for use in 3G mobile devices, including smartphones and PDA. Samsung Electronics Co. is introducing a mobile application processor based on an ARM1020E core, capable of speeds up to 667MHz and with a 133MHz bus clock.
The processor comes with up to 64KB cache memory. The new technology includes all the computing characteristics of current mobile processors with an embedded vector floating point co-processor enabling simultaneously computing of irregular decimal points along with fixed numbers. The company expects design engineers implementing this technology will use it to produce enhanced graphics, 3D gaming and digital audio features.
